This book reads like a textbook and I feel like I just got schooled on how to live that dream. I can do it.

My feedback on the first section of the book:

I picked up Delatorro’s book last week and have not been able to put it down! It is amazing me to me how it seems as though he is actually talking directly to me as I read each page! I have been in the same industry/career for 14 years and have pretty much reached the highest level I can reach at this point. My next (and final) promotion would be to VP of Operations for my SE division, after that it would be president of the company…not going to happen! I have made a lot of money for this and other recruiting firms that I have worked for over the years and know that it is time that I begin to make that money for myself…not just a small percentage!
I have played around with the idea of starting my own recruiting firm for years, but just never had the nerve to step out on Faith and just do it! I even started an Event Planning Firm a few years ago, but after finding it difficult to break into that industry coupled with my overwhelming desire to get back to my corporate recruiting field, I subsequently ended up in my current position as the Atlanta Area Manager for a recruiting firm specializing in accounting, finance, office, legal and IT placements.
Delatorro hit the nail on the head so many times throughout the first portion of his book that I cannot wait to get to the second half and ultimately complete the book! I enjoy the “active” reading that he encourages throughout the book by incorporating participation on my part by requiring me to write down honest answers to questions, thoughts, feelings, and experiences as they relate to my dream. I have shared my dream and this book with many friends and even my Pastor! My Pastor has been one of my greatest supporters – asking “What are you waiting for?” He – along with many others – feel very strongly that if anyone can do it, I can! This is evidenced in the fact that last year he called upon me to head up a ministry in our church that focuses on those in between jobs. I conduct a 4-hour Career Coaching Workshop six times a year and during our financial empowerment Week.
My dream is truly my passion and I would like to parlay it into other areas of interests as they relate to single mothers and founding a non-profit organization in Jamaica (my home). I feel very strongly that realizing my principle dream completely will enable me to pursue my secondary dreams as well. I can’t wait to complete this book (a few times) and apply what I have learned immediately to the formation of bringing my dream to a reality!

Thank you Delatorro!

PS: I also attended Progress Village Elementary school and am very familiar with Ms. Williams!! I also attended USF.
